Wilton Manors Welcomes The West End Lounge

Beautiful Ambiance – Premium Spirts – Exceptional Entertainment! The West End Lounge Delivers!

April 11th, 2024

The historic Wilton Drives welcomes The West End Lounge, a new up-scale cabaret style cocktail lounge, to Wilton Manors!  Nestled amongst the other entertainment offerings in bustling Wilton Manors, The West End Lounge stands out aesthetically with décor inspired by 1960’s Palm Springs, and a focus on fresh and fabulous cocktails. This new venue will have a unique nightlife offering with top talent from Broadway to local jazz and cabaret stages.

Offering a blend of elegance and relaxation, The West End Lounge is setting a new gold standard. Whether you’re planning an unforgettable date night, catching up with old friends, or simply craving a serene evening, choose a different kind of night where comfort meets sophistication to create the perfect mix of flair and fun. As it’s on a corner, I loved the open feeling provided by the wall of windows. There is also outside seating for about 30 people in addition to the interior seating for about 58. While you are there do try one of their specialty cocktails. I couldn’t resist ordering the “Anastasia Beaverhausen” (for those of you born under a rock that was the pseudonym used by Karen Walker in the series Will & Grace). The tangy taste of Tito’s Handmade vodka, limoncello, lemon, and fresh basil hit the spot!

The West End Lounge kicked off its cabaret lineup with Drama Desk Award-Winner Jay Armstrong Johnson, actor and star of the Tony winning Broadway musical Parade. Johnson’s performing resume is most impressive, and he is rather modest about it during his hour on stage. With Pianist Rick Leonard at his side, he sings Broadway songs like “Bring Him Home” and “Something’s Coming” to perfection. He has a lovely voice with a clarion quality that transcends itself when transitioning into his falsetto. I was not as fond of his sound when placed in a Pop/R&B musical setting as in the song “Mrs. Jones.”  It’s always enjoyable to hear personal stories sprinkled throughout a cabaret act, and Johnson did not disappoint. Broadway fans were rewarded with a medley of songs from Hello Dolly, and a duet from Aladdin sung with his boyfriend who is currently understudying the title role of Aladdin on Broadway. The surprise of the duet sealed with a kiss at the end of the song was a sweet way to round out the show. You can follow Jay Armstrong Johnson HERE.

Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming entertainment from The West End Lounge! It is sure to be your new favorite place to meet!
