Toto, Men at Work, and Christopher Cross Deliver a Night of Nostalgia
Classic Rock Reigns Supreme as Toto Launches Their 2025 Summer Tour with A Hit-Packed Show in South Florida – Photos and Review of the Toto Concert at the iThink Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL
The iThink Financial Amphitheater was abuzz with nostalgia and rock ‘n’ roll energy last night as Toto launched their highly anticipated Summer 2025 Tour in West Palm Beach. The legendary band, known for timeless hits like “Africa“, “Hold the Line“, and “Rosanna“, delivered a powerhouse performance that had the crowd singing along from start to finish and reliving some of their fondest memories. With iconic opening acts Men at Work and Christopher Cross setting the stage, fans arrived early for this packed event—eager to secure their spots for what promised to be a memorable night of smooth yacht-rock vibes.

Men at Work Kick off The Show with New Wave Classics
The amphitheater buzzed with excitement as the sun set over West Palm Beach, creating the perfect backdrop for a night of musical majesty. The evening began with Men at Work, the Australian new wave legends who dominated the early ‘80s with their quirky, reggae-infused rock. Frontman Colin Hay, still full of charisma and wit, led the band through a high-energy set that had the crowd singing along and dancing in the aisles. They kicked things off with “Touching the Untouchables” and “No Restrictions“, and Hay’s voice sounded remarkably fresh as he also showcased some solo work.

Between songs, Hay entertained the crowd with humorous anecdotes, including stories about the band’s early days and their unexpected rise to fame, and the current band’s chemistry was undeniable as they powered through hits like “Overkill“ and “It’s a Mistake“. Men at Work finished off their set with “Who Can It Be Now?“—instantly recognizable by its iconic saxophone riff—before diving into the playful “Down Under“, which turned the entire amphitheater into a massive sing-along of the smash hit.

Christopher Cross Delivers Smooth Yacht-Rock Nostalgia
Taking the stage as the second act of the night, Christopher Cross transported the crowd to the golden era of soft “yacht” rock with a flawless set of classic tracks. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, backed by a polished six-piece band, opened strong with “All Right“, immediately showcasing his signature velvety vocals and impeccable musicianship. Cross masterfully balanced upbeat tunes and heartfelt ballads, transitioning seamlessly into “Never Be the Same“—a track that highlighted his band’s tight harmonies and jazzy instrumentation. The crowd erupted as the first chords of “Sailing“ rang out, the song’s dreamy melody perfectly complementing the warm Florida evening.

The energy lifted again with “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)“, which had the audience singing along to every word, and Cross kept the momentum going with deeper cuts like “The Light Is On“ and “No Time for Talk“, proving his catalog extends far beyond just the hits. He closed his set with a triumphant rendition of “Ride Like the Wind“, the song’s driving rhythm and soaring saxophone solo sending waves of energy through the amphitheater. As the final notes faded, Cross thanked the crowd with genuine warmth, setting the stage perfectly for Toto’s headlining performance.

Toto Takes the Stage with Unmatched Musicianship
As the lights dimmed and the opening chords of the intro “Child’s Anthem“ roared through the speakers, Toto emerged to a thunderous ovation. The band, featuring founding member Steve Lukather on guitar and longtime singer Joseph Williams, along with an all-star lineup of musicians, proved why they remain one of the most respected acts in rock history. From the first note, it was clear that Toto was in top form. Lukather’s guitar solos were blistering, Williams’ vocals soared, and the rhythm section—anchored by legendary session drummer Shannon Forrest—was airtight. The setlist was a masterclass in hits and deep cuts, including “Rosanna“ (complete with its iconic shuffle groove), a soulful rendition of “I Won’t Hold You Back” with an incredible keyboard solo by Greg Phillinganes, and “Anger Don’t Cry“, which turned into a massive crowd-wide choir.

One of the evening’s highlights was an extended jam during “White Sister“, further showcasing the band’s virtuosic musicianship. Lukather traded solos with keyboardist Greg Phillinganes, while bassist John Pierce held down the groove with effortless precision during “Home of the Brave” and “Don’t Chain My Heart“. While Toto’s music is rooted in the ‘70s and ‘80s, their performance felt anything but dated as the band infused classic tracks with new energy, and Williams’ stage presence was magnetic, engaging the crowd between songs with humor and heartfelt appreciation. As the encore—a triumphant duo of “Hold the Line” and their biggest hit “Africa“—faded out, the audience erupted in applause, knowing they had witnessed something truly special. With Christopher Cross’ smooth melodies, Men at Work’s infectious energy, and Toto’s masterful performance, Toto’s Summer 2025 Tour couldn’t have asked for a better kickoff.
