From Snowflakes to Sweets, Paris Ballet’s Nutcracker Delivers a Day of Pure Magic and Grace!

November 19th, 2023

Paris Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” was a mesmerizing blend of exquisite choreography and enchanting set design. The young dancers displayed impeccable skill, capturing the essence of Tchaikovsky’s timeless score with grace and precision. Adding to the visual feast, the costumes enhanced the magical atmosphere of the performance.

From the lively battle scenes to the ethereal Land of Sweets, each act unfolded seamlessly, leaving the audience captivated throughout. Paris Ballet’s rendition of this holiday classic proved to be a delightful and immersive experience, making it a must-see for ballet enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Under the visionary direction of Jean-Hugues Feray, Paris Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” delivered a flawless performance. The maid’s impeccable execution remained completely on point all night and truly never skipped a beat, but she wasn’t alone as the entire ensemble showcased their mesmerizing skill and precision too. The bombastic clash between The Nutcracker and Mouse was beautifully crafted, while the snow-covered trees and the seamless transition into the second act added a nice magical touch.

I really enjoyed the Spanish flare of vibrant red and black dresses and the use of the cocktail umbrellas by the Asian dancers. Both acts along with several other cultures infused the production with an abundance of energy. Another welcomed highlight was the emergence of the Polichinelles children from Mother Ginger’s hoop skirt. Against the enchanting CandyLand background, the Arabic dance was well-choreographed, featuring a variety of extremely talented dancers.

The diversity of dance styles and the variety of performers contributed to the production’s richness. The finale, a spectacular dance number, served as a fitting conclusion to a night of enchantment, leaving the audience in awe of Paris Ballet’s extraordinary rendition of this beloved classic.

A special kudos goes out to the four graduating seniors who have been with the production for many years.
