Mamma Mia! A Broadway Bash of Music & Magic
Lose Yourself in the Magic of Mamma Mia! – A High-Energy Musical Packed with Heart and Hits.
February 18th, 2025
Broadway meets the Greek islands in Mamma Mia! — a high-energy, feel-good musical packed with ABBA classics, dazzling performances, and just the right amount of comedy. From the moment the lights dim, you’re swept away to a sun-soaked paradise where love, laughter, and a whole lot of sequins take center stage. And with wine in hand (yes, it’s allowed in the theater), the experience feels even more like a celebration.
Walking into the theater, the ambiance was already transporting us to Mykonos—iconic blue-and-white set pieces, a lively crowd, and an overall vibe of “we’re about to have a great time.” We eagerly grabbed a charcuterie board, only to realize that Broadway rules demand you finish your cheese and crackers before taking your seat. A minor setback, but we made it work—wine in hand, ready for the magic to unfold.

From the first note of the opening number, the energy was infectious. The cast didn’t just perform—they delivered. Every song hit the perfect mix of nostalgia and powerhouse vocals, with standout moments in “Super Trouper”, “Voulez-Vous”, and “The Winner Takes It All”. Scene transitions were impressively smooth, seamlessly taking us from a lively taverna to a moonlit beach wedding. Surprisingly, “Take a Chance on Me” turned out to be the crowd favorite—not “Dancing Queen”. Maybe it was the collective wine buzz, or maybe people just really love a good romantic plea. Either way, it was a moment.
Given the legendary ABBA playlist and the drinks in hand, we anticipated a rowdy sing-along. Instead, the audience was mostly content to enjoy the performances with subtle head bobs and quiet murmurs of lyrics. Perhaps Broadway etiquette kept the full karaoke energy at bay, but the excitement was still palpable throughout the theater.

Mamma Mia! on Broadway is the perfect mix of music, humor, and feel-good energy. The vocals? Incredible. The transitions? Seamless. The atmosphere? A Greek-inspired escape. While we may have mourned our charcuterie board, the wine and nostalgia more than made up for it.
Catch Mamma Mia! at the Ziff Ballet Opera House, Adrienne Arsht Center from February 18 – 23, 2025. With a run time of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, this feel-good musical is suitable for ages 8 and up.
